Human-shark interactions

Human–shark interactions are documented using standardised field protocols to assess the influence of tourism on shark behaviour and health. During each encounter, we record the number of divers, safety personnel, and vessels present, along with dive conditions and duration. Shark behaviour and interaction patterns are systematically observed and noted, including social behaviour, proximity to divers, and responses to human presence.

Visible injuries or scars potentially linked to human activity are photographed and tracked across repeated sightings. These data provide critical insight into human impacts and support the development of responsible shark tourism practices.
