We offer hands-on scientific internships for students and early-career researchers interested in marine science and shark research. Our programs provide the unique opportunity to work directly with one of the world’s most significant tiger and thresher shark aggregations, while contributing to ongoing research and conservation projects in Fuvahmulah.

Interns gain practical field experience, data management skills, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced researchers and local shark safety divers.


MAin TASKS
Maintain daily tiger dive logs and collect environmental data and photo-ID of tiger sharks to monitor individuals and populations dynamics.
Support thresher shark research to study behavior and cleaning interactions at coral reefs
Collect Laser measurements of tiger sharks for size and growth tracking
Quantify injuries and track injury healing of individuals

KEY REquIREMENTS
Dive Experience
AOWD (Advanced Open Water Diver) or Rescue Diver certification + minimum of 50 logged dives.
Field work Experience
Basic knowledge of marine fieldwork techniques.
Data Management
Experience with R or Excel for data handling
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology or related field

We offer a range of ongoing research projects, but you’re also welcome to propose your own idea so we can explore its potential together. You’ll have the opportunity to conduct your thesis on-site over several months, simply fill out the form, indicate the length of your stay, and upload your CV and cover letter.

PROJECTs
Students wishing to conduct a thesis with us can collaborate on topics related to shark ecology, reef biodiversity, or marine conservation. We offer help and expertise, access to field sites, and guidance in data analysis and scientific writing.
